Obituary

Anna Mae Childers the beloved daughter of Lillie Mae Dukes Tremble and John Bradshaw Sr, was born in Screven County Georgia on January 26, 1939. She departed this life on April 22, 2023 in her home located in Baltimore, Maryland.

Anna attended William James High School in Statesboro, Georgia. She had a strong work ethic, that she was proud of, and a lot of grit. She loved the outdoors. She didn’t like “sitting up in no house.” Her favorite pastimes were fishing and gardening. She was the only female member of a fishing club, where she held the office as treasurer. This was a likely office to hold, since she had always been employed to “work with figures.” Anna constantly looked to improve herself. She understood that she could redesign her life as she saw fit and did so in regards to health, fitness and by means of self-education. She was an avid reader of her favorite subjects including religion, politics, and health. She was actively involved in community affairs, seeking to improve the Belair-Edison community, in which she had lived, for more than 48 years. Anna loved butterflies, which she collected as home decor and jewelry.

Anna departed this world leaving behind two daughters, Gwendolyn Childers and Patrice Childers. She was preceded in death by her son Cedric Childers, Sr (Cecelia Childers surviving mother of his children). She has seven surviving siblings; Verna Bennett (Rev Danny Ray), Ruby Phillips, Roy Tremble (Lena), Lamar Tremble; all from Statesboro, GA and Curtis Tremble, John Bradshaw, and Shirley Huff, all from Baltimore, MD. Anna was grandmother to five; Lalita Dortch, Cristin Childers Monroe (Michael Monroe), Cedric Childers Jr, Ian Childers, and Erica Childers. She was a great-grandmother of ten.

Anna will be missed by all who loved her, but we know “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
