On February 1, 1973, Sheila Denise Hayes Williams was born in Baxley, Georgia to Elzie Hayes, Sr. and the late Marilyn Carter Hayes. On Monday, March 8, 2021 while at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, God saw that Sheila was growing tired and knew that she needed eternal rest, so he called her home.
Sheila was a 1991 graduate of Appling County Comprehensive High School and continued her education at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia. At an early age, Sheila joined the First African Missionary Baptist Church in Baxley, Georgia. During her membership, she served in the Youth Choir, Usher Board, participated in several youth concerts, and was a Vacation Bible School Teacher.
She is preceded in death by her Mother, Marilyn Carter Hayes, her paternal grandparents, Obie and Catherine Hayes, and her maternal grandparents, Leavy and Hattie Carter Sr.
Sheila will be missed, but her memory will forever be cherished by her husband of 21 years, Brancis Williams, her children: Brandeis Amiya Williams and Bryson Ahman Williams of Roanoke Rapids, NC, her father, Elzie Hayes, Sr. of Baxley GA; two brothers: Elzie (Felecia) Hayes, Jr. of Baxley, GA, Dr. Nathaniel (Mimi) Hayes of Guyton, GA; two sisters: Jacqueline (Oliver) Davis of Folkston, GA and Sylvia (Michael) Tremble of Statesboro, GA; Mother-in-Law, Violene (Ronald) Williams of Baxley, GA, Sister-in-law, Beverly (George) Hall of Milledgeville, GA; Brother-in-law, Dr. Charles Williams of Lawrenceville, GA; Nephews: Torreon (Melanie) Hayes, Nicheon Hayes, Jeronte Davis, Justin Davis, Jeremy (Khadijah) Hayes, Jamez Davis, Johnathan Hayes and Nathan Hayes; Nieces: Desiree Hayes, Myriah Tremble, Elzaria Davis, Samiya Tremble, Tabitha Hall, Tammy Brown, and Tina (Sammy) Davis; Great Nephews and Nieces: Jeremy Hayes Jr., Kameron Rashad Davis, Jaiyla Nicole Davis, Khilynn Hayes, Jaxon Hayes, Kamren Davis, Kaitlyn Davis, and Kyrie Davis; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A walk-through viewing will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 PM at CM Brown Funeral Home 26 Northside Street, Baxley, Georgia.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021, 1:00 PM, at Rachael Baptist Church Cemetery in Baxley, Georgia.
Due to Covid-19, we will adhere to social distancing and we are requiring that a mask be worn if you plan to attend the walk-through visitation or the graveside service.
