Mr. Melvin Cooper, Jr., age 78, passed away on Saturday December 29th at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. He was a Bulloch County native, but resided in Boston, Mass., for over 55 years before moving back to Statesboro, Ga. He was a member of the Summer Hill Baptist Church and attended the William James High School of Statesboro, Ga. He was a member of the Masonic Hall of Boston, Mass. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather who enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He also loved to go fishing.
He is survived by his loving children Sheila (Fredrick Mashall) Johnson of Statesboro, Ga., Katerina (Raynard Mcclouden) Cooper of Valdosta, Ga., Marcus Cooper, Gerald Cooper, and Jerry Cooper all of Boston, Mass.; his loving step-children Marzella Scott, Randy Scott, Evelyn Diane Scott, Tyrone Parker, and Williams Scott all of Boston, Mass.; his loving sisters Lottie Gaines and Rozina (Henry) Shatteen both of Statesboro, Ga., and Petronia Campbell of Savannah, Ga.; his loving grandchildren Melvin Cooper, Dawanna (Kimble Smith) Moore,Jowanda (Javier) Lucas Bello all of Statesboro, Ga., Rhodora Harper Cooper, and Kiyera Cooper both of Boston, Mass., David (Antonio) Pea Cameron III of Pooler, Ga., Taquaisha (A.J.) Poole and Shamia Ross both of Valdosta, Ga.; his loving great grandchildren Tiana Cooper, J'Niyah Cooper, Jasity Cooper, Serenity Wiggins, Alashia Cooper, Lauren Wadley, Josiah Cooper, Lakeya Eason, Keymidrain Cooper, LaMya Dietz, Addison Ross, Josiah Capers, Isaiah Capers, Amari Poole, Dalelyn Cooper, Jowanda Lucas, and Sha'Niya McNair and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family and friends visitations will be held Friday January 4, 2019 from 6-8pm in the chapel of Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel.
Home Going Celebration Services for Mr. Melvin Cooper, Jr., will be held Saturday January 5, 2019 at 1pm at the Summer Hill Baptist Church, Summer Hill Church Road, Statesboro, Ga., with the Rev. Joe Herrington, Presiding and Pastor Raphele Smith, Eulogist. Interment will be held in Church Cemetery.
