John Author Simmons answered his Heavenly Father's summons on July 20, 2018 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville. Services will be held Monday, July 30, 2018, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Fisher Funeral Home. Interment will be in Lizzie Bloomer Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born in Pulaski County on February 16, 1955, he was the son of the late, Curtis Simmons. John had lived in Cochran most of his life. He was a retired police officer with the Cochran Police Department and a member of Lizzie Bloomer Baptist Church. Three brothers, Curtis Simmons Jr., Lee Simmons and Dean Simmons, preceded John in death.
Curtis leaves to cherish his memories: his loving mother, Lula Bell Simmons of Cochran; sister, Evelyn Simmons of Cochran; brother, Tony Dwayne Simmons of Cochran; aunt, Elnora “Tilly” Corbett of Pembroke; uncle, Charlie McGriff Jr. of Passaic N.J.; nephew, Antonio Simmons of Milledgeville, Georgia and many other friends and family members.
The family is at the Simmons Residence 187 Johnson Street in Cochran and will meet friends in the chapel following the service Monday.
Services have been entrusted to Fisher Funeral Home of Cochran.
