On July 23, 1934 Ethel Lee Reese Wright was born in Pembroke, Georgia, to Lula Bell Fleming Reese and Lossie Reese.
She was educated at Pembroke High School and was a member of the first graduating class. She then furthered her education completing 2 years of college at Savannah State.
Ethel Lee Reese Wright attended Bethel Lutheran Church located in New Orleans, LA., where she sung her heart out on the music ministries choir. She enjoyed her free time indulging in her entrepreneurial skills by baking, cooking and sewing. She was the type to dress to impress by making a dress/ suit in one day just to go to work or church. Not forgetting her conversational skills. If you stood next to her longer than a few minutes she would strike up a conversation for hours at a time.
She married Thomas S. Wright Jr. and had six beautiful children.
Ethel was a very independent individual. She wanted no assistance and wanted to be free to maneuver however she wanted. From going to the Adult Day Center, to even going to the local convenience store down the street to play her lottery and scratch-offs. Unfortunately her sickness took a toll on her body on October 14, 2019, where she then was bed ridden. Even then, that did not stop her from wanting to hop out of her bed to “walk her visitors to the door” when leaving. Ethel lived with her sassy little great- granddaughter Sanai, who worked diligently in assisting with taking care of her great- grandmother in her final days.
She was preceded in death by her son Gregory B. Wright of New Orleans, LA, who is the eldest. Then followed Troy & Sharon Wright of Paterson, NJ, Sheilah D. Wright Carter & Andy Carter of Paterson, NJ, Lydia C. Wright of New York, NY, Marlon C. & Katherine Wright of Atlanta, GA, and lastly, Thomas S. Wright III & Treniece Wright of New Orleans, LA; A devoted sister, Lonetta Hines of Syracuse, NY, a devoted sister, Grace L. Beamon and brother-in-law Jonah Beamon of Savannah, GA, preceded in death a devoted brother Frank J. Reese of Pembroke, GA. Sadly, on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, we gained an angel. With our sadden hearts, she will truly be missed.
Her memory will be cherished by her loving grandchildren: Christopher Wright, Jamaal Wright, Tiya Williams and Maalik Wright, Asia, Andrea and Morgan Carter, Nadia and Marlon Wright Jr., and Thomas Wright IIII; host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends.
