Mr. Willie James Hendrix, age 69, of Statesboro, Ga., passed away peacefully on Saturday October 3rd at Candler Hospital in Savannah, Ga., after an extended illness. He was a Bulloch County native having resided in Nyack, N.Y. from 1970 until 1998 before returning back to Statesboro, Ga. He was a 1965 graduate of William James High School. He received a degree in Fine Arts from Pratt Institute of Brooklyn, N.Y., and a Masters Degree in Fine Arts from Howard University of Washington, D.C. He retired from Rockland Psychiatric Center of the State of New York. He was a member of the St. Phillip A.M.E Zion Church in Nyach, N.Y., and the Mount Zion A.M.E Church of Statesboro, Ga. He had a love and enjoyed doing artwork. He is survived by his loving wife Mrs. Arlene Hendrix of Portal, Ga.; his loving children Mrs. Treneice Hendrix Garcia(Abraham) of Aiken, S.C., Mrs. Brittini Hendrix Houston of Augusta, Ga., and Ms. Domaniqua J. Hendrix of Portal, Ga.; his loving sisters Mrs. Dorothy Strobert(Robert), Mrs. Rose A. Hilton, and Mrs. Emma Grimes all of Statesboro, Ga.; his loving brothers Mr. Joseph Hendrix(Louise) and Mr. Jerome Hendrix(Mae Pearl) both of Statesboro, Ga.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing will be held Friday October 9, 2015 from 3pm-8pm at Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel. Home Going Celebration for Mr. Willie James Hendrix will be Saturday October 10, 2015 at 11am at the Mt. Zion A.M.E Church, Hwy. 24 East, Statesboro, Ga., with the Rev. Earl Perkins, Presiding/Pastor and the Rev. Ronnie S. Tremble, Eulogist. Interment will be held in Church Cemetery. Mr. Willie James Hendrix will lie-in-state from 10am until funeral hour; there will be no viewing after eulogy. Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel are in charge of arrangements.
