Ms. Vera Mae Childers, age 62, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Monday June 6th at Ogeechee Area Hospice Facility after an brief illness. She was a Bulloch County Native and resided in Fulton County for over 40 years before returning back to Statesboro. She was a 1973 graduate of Statesboro High School and a 1978 graduate of Georgia Southern College (Now Georgia Southern University) with a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice. She was employed with the Fulton County Sheriff Department. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall Of Jehovah's Witnesses of Statesboro, Ga. She is survived by her mother Mrs. Leona M. Childers of Statesboro, GA.; four sisters Mrs. Betty (Joseph) Young of Hardeeville, SC. Ms. Annie Childers and Ms. Marilyn Childers both of Statesboro, Ga. Mrs. Martha (Paul) Garrett of Hinesville, Ga.; three brothers Mr. Joseph Childers Jr., and Mr. Samuel (Peggy) Childers both of Statesboro, Ga. and Mr. Wayne Childers of Atlanta, Ga.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing for Ms. Vera Mae Childers will be held Friday June 17, 2016 from 2-8pm at Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel. Home Going Celebration for Ms. Vera Mae Childers will be held Saturday June 18, 2016 at 1pm in the chapel of Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, 238 West Main Street, Statesboro, Ga. Interment will be held in the Mt. Zion A.M.E Church Cemetery, Hwy. 24 East, Statesboro, Ga. Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel are in charge of arrangements.
