Mrs. Thelma Smith, age 82 of Brooklet, Ga., passed into eternal rest on Sunday December 30th after a brief illness at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. She was a Bulloch County native and retired after many years as a cook. She was a faithful member of the Jerusalem A.M.E Church where she served on the Mother Board. She is survived by two daughters Ms. Barbara Ann Smith of Brooklet, Ga., and Mrs. Deloris(Larry) Smart of Statesboro, Ga.; three sons Mr. James Smith and Mr. Lawrence Smith both of Brooklet, Ga., and Mr. Amos(Beverly) Smith of Statesboro, Ga.; two sisters Mrs. Mae Liza Smith and Mrs. Lillie Mae Smith both of Brooklet, Ga.; four brothers Mr. Brantley Johnson of Brooklet, Ga., Mr. R.J. Johnson, Mr. Eugene Johnson both of Statesboro, Ga., and Mr. Ray Johnson of Jacksonville, Fl.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Smith will be Saturday January 5, 2013 at 1pm at Mount Zion A.M.E Church, Hwy. 24 East, Statesboro, Ga., with the Rev. Anthony Scott, eulogist and Rev. Kenneth Wilson, pastor. Interment will be held in Jerusalem A.M.E Church Cemetery. Family visitations will be Friday January 4, 2013 from 7-8pm at Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel. Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel are in charge of arrangements.
