Obituary

Ruby Kirkland Hall was born May 5, 1914 in Statesboro, Georgia to Ella Cowart and Stewart Kirkland. She was the oldest of five siblings. She attended school in Bulloch County, Georgia. She departed this life Thursday, September 29, 2011. At a young age, she married Clifton Summerlin. In 1942, Cliff was killed in an accidental explosion while serving in the military during World War II. Ruby later married Lee Hall in October, 1947. Like many African-Americans in the late 1940's, they migrated north for better job opportunities. In 1967, they adopted a beautiful daughter, Luree. Ruby and Lee shared 40 years of marriage until the Lord called him home on April 14, 1987. Originally she joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church and later transferred her membership to Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Otis Moss, Jr. Ruby was an original member of the Usherettes and served as the first Treasurer. She was also a member of the Office Supply Club and the Missionary Society. Ruby enjoyed sewing, shopping and cooking southern food. She was a caring and dedicated homemaker. She loved to go "Home" to Statesboro, Georgia every summer to be with family. She leaves to mourn her passing a daughter Ms. Luree A. Blythe of Cincinnati, OH; two grandsons David L. Blythe and Aaron S. Blythe of Cincinnati, OH; a brother Mr. James(Ruth) Pryor, Jr. of Atlanta, GA.; a brother-in-law Mr. John G. Parker of Statesboro, Ga.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing will be Wednesday October 5, 2011 from noon until 1pm in the chapel of Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Ga., 238 West Main Street, with interment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Church(Fishtrap) Cemetery.
