Deacon(SSGT) Roosevelt Savage made his heavenly transition on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Savage was born on June 17, 1928 in Stilson, Ga, to the late Willie Savage, Sr and the late Annie Lee Savage. He was also preceded in death by his nurturing parents Pink and Silviller Weaver, a son Leon Savage, two brothers: Willie Savage, Jr. and Leon Savage, two nephews: Willie,III and Henry Savage, and a niece: Selathia Savage-Best. He was educated in the public schools of Chatham County. Upon completion, he enlisted in the United States Air Force retiring after twenty-four years of dedicated service to his country. After retirement, he started another career at Hunt Wesson/Beatrice Foods for twenty years. In December 1997, Roosevelt was baptized in Friendship Baptist Church where he served on the usher board and later became a Deacon, continuing his faithful walk with GOD. He knew he had to work while it was day because he knew that night would one day come. Surviving is a devoted wife of fifty-seven years: Albertha Savage, a son: Stephen(Gloria) Savage and three daughters: Rogenia Savage, and Sharon(Reggie)Watson of Savannah, GA and Lorraine(Washington)Johnson, a daughter-in-law: Wera Savage, of Los Angeles California. Four grandchildren that were raised as his own: Ashley, Alexis, Courtney and Canty Savage. One sister: Betty (Lance) Lang, one sister-in-law: Shirley Mclemore of Redlands, CA; three brothers-in-law: (Retired) Lt. Colonel Walter (Dora)Gaskin, of San Francisco, CA, Johnny Gaskin of Savannah, GA and Frederick(Ebony)Wilson of Seoul, Korea; Grandchildren: Deon and Savannah Savage of Los Angeles, CA, Stephen and Stephanie Savage and Ivory Matthews and Robin Davis; Khalilah, Silviller and Pink Watson all of Savannah, GA; Greatgrands: Rayona, Ashley,II and Christian Savage, Ashlynn and Peyton Savage-Orr; Canty Seabrooks, Jr, Aniyla Robinson, Cadeem and Caiden Johnson and Markeith Cummings, Jr, one aunt: Jarldine Lanier of Statesboro, GA, nieces: Tonya(Raymond)Gaskin; Ingrid(Kiawanna)Jackson;Kiyadah Wall; Nephews: Jabari Robinson and Lance Lang, Jr.; special cousin: Akin Royall of Brooklyn, New York; Godchildren: Tiyanna(Jeffery)Cummings; Antoine Myrick; Antoinette (Linden)Boyer and two adoptive daughters: Beverly Jonson; Kimberly Wiles Family visitations will be Thursday August 14th from 6-8pm at Friendship Baptist Church, 2151 Weldon Street, Savannah, Ga. Home Going Celebration for Deacon Roosevelt Savage will be held Friday August 15th at 10am at Friendship Baptist Church, Savannah, Ga., with the Rev. Joseph Fields, Officiating/Pastor. Interment will be held in Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, South Carolina. Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Pembroke Chapel are in charge of arrangements.
