Mr. Purvis Dukes, Sr., age 69 of Waynesboro, Ga., passed away peacefully on Saturday December 26th at his residence under the professional care of Regency Hospice of Augusta, Ga. He was a Burke County native and a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a retired employee of Deerfield Specialty Paper Incorporation of Augusta, Ga. He is survived by his devoted wife Mrs. Laverne Dukes of Waynesboro, Ga.; his loving children Mrs. Merla(Dexter) Jones and Ms. Keisha Dukes both of Waynesboro, Ga., and Mr. Purvis(Dawana) Dukes Jr. of Augusta, Ga.; his loving sisters Ms. Evelyn Dukes of Wayensboro, Ga., and Mrs. Betty McGill of New Jersey; his loving grandchildren Ms. Kalee Jones of Atlanta, Ga., and Mr. Dexter Jones Jr. of Waynesboro, Ga.,; and host of other relatives and friends. Viewing for Mr. Purvis Dukes Sr., will be held Wednesday December 30, 2015 from 4pm-8pm at Phinazee & Sons Funeral Home, 404 West 8th Street, Waynesboro, Ga. Home Going Celebration for Mr. Purvis Dukes Sr., will be held Thursday December 31, 2015 at 1pm at the Phillip Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 2015 Herndon Road, Waynesboro, Ga., with the Rev. Craig R. Tremble, Presiding, and the Rev. Elliott Bing Pastor/ Eulogist. Interment will be held in the Pines Cemetery of Waynesboro, Ga. Mr. Purvis Dukes Sr., will lie-in-state from 12pm until funeral hour. There will be no viewing after eulogy. Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel are in charge of arrangements.
