Mr. James
Dickerson
Aug 20, 1942 — May 23, 2026
Mr. James Dickerson, who departed this life on May 23, 2026, at the age of 83, was born on August 20, 1942, in Statesboro, GA.to the late Walter Samuel Dickerson Sr. and Fannie Singleton Dickerson.
James was preceded in death by both of his parents, his longtime companion Essie Grant, and all five of his siblings.
Around 1965, James relocated to New York City, where he later met the love of his life, Essie Grant. Together they shared many years of love and companionship and welcomed one son, Richard Grant. Their bond remained strong until Essie’s passing in 2019.
James dedicated 33 years of hard work and service to Graphpack Industries before retiring. He was known for his quiet strength, dedication to family, and kind spirit. In his free time, he enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball, fishing, and spending meaningful time with family and friends. Those who knew James will remember his strong presence, wisdom, and the love he showed to those around him.
After the passing of his longtime partner, James returned to his hometown of Statesboro, where he became a faithful member of Stevens Temple Church of Christ. Shortly after returning home, his health began to decline, and he later became a resident of Browns Nursing Home, where he remained until his passing.
James leaves to cherish his memory his loving son, Richard Grant; his grandson, Richard Wilson; his great-grandson, Quamaine Wilson, sister, Louise Robbins (Claude) of Claxton, Ga,; along with a host of extended family members and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Though he is no longer with us physically, the love, lessons, and memories James shared will live on for generations to come. May he rest in eternal peace.
