Deacon Morris Ward Sr., age 78, passed away Sunday morning August 10th after a brief illness at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. He was a Screven County native, but resided in Bulloch County for many years. He retired as a principal from Northside Middle School now known as William James Middle School in 1996. He received his Bachelor of Social Studies from Savannah State College now known as Savannah State University. He received his Master Degree in Educational/Administration from South Carolina State College now known as South Carolina State University. He served in the United States Army. He was a member of New Light Baptist Church of Woodcliff, Ga., where he was chairman of the deacon board. He is survived by his loving daughters Mrs. Tonyua Ward(Dexter) Rountree of Clinton, Maryland, and Mrs. Sherrly James(Earl) of Warner Robbins, Ga.; his loving sons Mr. Morris Ward Jr.(Wynette) of Statesboro, Ga., and Mr. Anthony Ward(Tammie) of Hephzibah, Ga.; a loving step-son Mr. Phillip Tremble(Elizabeth) of Statesboro, Ga.; his loving brothers Mr. Winton Ward of Deerfield Beach, Fl., Mr. Clinton Ward of Fort Lauderdale, Fl., and Mr. Carson Sapp(Brenda) of Register, Ga.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Family visitations will be Wednesday August 13th from 6-8pm in the chapel of Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel. Home Going Celebration for Deacon Morris Ward Sr. will be held Thursday August 14th at 12pm at Miller Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Hwy. 24 East, with the Rev. Julius Abraham, Presiding, the Rev. Larry Scarboro, Eulogist, and the Rev. Harry James Tremble, Jr., Pastor. Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel are in charge of arrangements.
