Mrs. Milkie Gordon Burns, age 78, passed away on Wednesday morning August 17th at her daughter's residence in Columbia, S.C., after an extended illness. She was a Screven County native and a member of the Simmons Branch Baptist Church. She retired from Anchorage Hotel in Alaska. She is preceded in death by her husband Theodore Roosevelt Burns. She is survived by her loving children Mrs. Debra (Michael) Wilds of Columbia, S.C., Mr. Theodore Burns Jr., and Mr. Alton (Robin) Burns both of Anchorage, Alaska, and Mr. Emmanuel (Denise) Burns of Washington State; a loving sister Ms. Pearl Gordon of Statesboro, Ga.; her loving brothers Mr. Benny Gordon of Sylvania, Ga., and Mr. Elisha (Anna) Gordon of Fort Lauderdale, Fl.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Family and friends visitations will be held Friday August 26, 2016 from 6-8pm in the chapel of Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel. Home Going Celebration for Mrs. Milkie Gordon Burns will be Saturday August 27, 2016 at 12pm at the Simmons Branch Baptist Church, 200 Simmons Branch Road, Sylvania, Ga., with the Rev. Joe Herrington, Presiding/Pastor, and the Rev. John Roberts, Eulogist. Interment will be held in Friendship Memorial Cemetery, Sylvania, Ga. Mrs. Milkie Burns will lie-in-state from 11am until funeral hour. There will be no viewing after eulogy. Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel are in charge of arrangements.
