Mrs. Miffie Sawyer Johnson, age 74, of Savannah, Ga., passed into eternal rest on Thursday December 26th after an extended illness at Candler Hospital in Savannah, Ga. She was a Chatham County native and retired from Memorial Hospital in Savannah, Ga., after 22 years of service as a cook. She was a member of the Conners Temple Baptist Church of Savannah, Ga., where she was a member of the senior choir. After retiring she spent her time traveling, quilting, and socializing with Senior Citizens at Moses Jackson Center, Wesley Community Center, Salvation Army and Savannah Baptist Church where she would attend their ladies bible studies. She is survived by her loving daughters Mrs. Gloria Davis(Kenneth Sr.) of Savannah, Ga., and Mrs. Christine Wilkerson of New Port Richey, Fl.; her loving sons Mr. John Henry Johnson(Theresa) of Springfield, Ga., and Mr. Ralph Johnson(Tracy) of Tampa, Fl.; her loving sisters Mrs. Ronie Akins of Garden City, Ga., and Mrs. Corine Luke(James) of Augusta, Ga.; her loving brother Mr. Freddie Sawyer of Savannah, Ga.; her loving sister-in-law Sandra Sawyer of Savannah, Ga.; eleven grandchildren; 19 great-grand children; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Also, very special friends: Mr. Lucius McIntyre, Mrs. Elizabeth Mydell and god-daughter Frances Mydell. Family visitations will be Friday January 3rd from 7-8pm at Conner's Temple Baptist Church, Savannah, Ga. Home going celebration for Mrs. Miffie Sawyer Johnson will be Saturday January 4th at 11am at Conner's Temple Baptist Church, Savannah, Ga., with Pastor Terrance Burrell Sr., Officiating. Interment will be held in Woodville Cemetery, Savannah, Ga. Mrs. Miffie Sawyer Johnson can be viewed from 11am until 5pm at Sylvania Funeral Home of Savannah, 102 Owens Industrial Drive, Savannah, Ga. Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Pembroke Chapel are in charge of arrangements.
