Mrs. Mary Lee Thompson was born on May 26, 1937 to her father Mr. Gordon Cone Sr. & her mother Miss Minnie Lee, she had a stepfather Mr. Tom Durant Sr. She was married to Mr. John R.W. Thompson on March 31, 1956, all who preceded her in death. She departed this life on Monday March 7, 2016 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice. At a young age she and her children joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church No.1, where she served until her late years in life when she moved her membership to her family's home church, Mt. Zion A.M.E Church of Statesboro, Ga. She leaves to cherish her memories her children Mrs. Betty Mikell(Walter), Mr. John Thompson(Vickie), Mr. Eddie Thompson(Jan), and Mr. Vic Thompson(Robin), a special granddaughter and caregiver Mrs. Mary Joseph(Brad), and a granddaughter that was like a daughter Mrs. Shaquana Oglesby(Malcom), great grandson as a son Kevin Mikell, god daughter's Mildred Brown(Junior), Penny Mikell(Al), DeeDee Jones, god son's Donald Lockheart(Stacy), and Thomas Shuman Jr., step daughter's and step son's Annette Eason(Johnny), Annie Weaver(Lee), Jan Bowens(Ivy) Jeannette Houston and Rickey Houston. Her sisters and brothers Linda Lucas(Edward), Willie Mae Bulloch(James), Robert Lee(Rosa), Tom Durant(Cathy), Roy Durant(Dawn). Her step brother's and step sister's Thomas Rawls Sr., Columbus Rawls Jr., Raymond Rawls and Ruby Rawls Knight(Ben). Her uncle Paul Lee Jr., a devoted cousin Willie (Omie) Roberson. 10 grandchildren, 15 great grands, 12 step grands and 14ste great grands. Assistant care takers: Shericka Johnson, Lee Ellen Durant, Mary Joseph and Kevin Mikell. A host of brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws within the Thompson family as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Family and friends visitations will be held Saturday March 12, 2016 from 7-8pm in the chapel of Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel. Home Going Celebration for Mrs. Mary Lee Thompson will be held Sunday March 13, 2016 at 2:30pm at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Claxton, Ga., with Pastor Delmus White, Presiding/Pastor and the Rev. Earl Perkins, Eulogist. Interment will be held in the Mt. Zion A.M.E Church Cemetery, Statesboro, Ga. Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel are in charge of arrangements.
