Deacon Lonnie Lee Gaines, age 75, passed peacefully away on Thursday February 26th at his residence under the professional care of Gentiva Hospice surrounded by his loving family, after a short illness. He was a Screven County native, but resided in Bulloch County for many years. He retired from Grinnell(ITT) Corporation Plant of Statesboro, Ga. He was a member of Simmons Branch Baptist Church of Sylvania, Ga., where he served as a Deacon and also sung in the Male Chorus. He was a member of the Masonic Hall. He is survived by his loving wife Mrs. Lottie Gaines of Statesboro, Ga.; his loving children Mrs. Angela Hunter and Mr. Lonnie Levene Gaines both of Statesboro, Ga., Mr. Abraham(Lawanda) Gaines of Orlando, Fl., Mrs. Cynthia(Charles) Murphy of Brunswick, Ga., Mr. Adrian(Stacey) Gaines and Mr. Vick(Arnetta) Gaines both of Atlanta, Ga., and Mr. Avery Gaines of California; his loving sisters Mrs. Beauty Mae Dobson of Fort Myers, Fl., Mrs. Evernease Hunter and Mrs. Louiser Keel(Robert) both of Statesboro, Ga., Mrs. Irene Williams of Augusta, Ga., Mrs. Rita Mae Bryant and Ms. Evelyn Gaines both of Sylvania, Ga.; his loving sister-in-laws Mrs. Rozina Shatten(Henry) of Statesboro, Ga., Mrs. Petronia Campbell of Savannah, Ga., and Ms. Lillian Gaines of Toledo, Ohio; and a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing will be held Monday March 2nd from 9am until 8pm at Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel. Home Going Celebration for Deacon Lonnie Gaines will be Tuesday March 3rd at 1pm at Simmons Branch Baptist Church, Sylvania, Ga., with the Rev. Raphele Smith, Presiding and the Pastor Joe Herrington, Eulogist. Interment will be held in Church Cemetery. Deacon Lonnie Gaines will lie-in-state from 12pm until funeral hour, no viewing after eulogy. Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel are in charge of arrangements.
