Mr. Leander "Preacher" Alston, age 75, passed peacefully away Friday morning September 7th at Ogeechee Area Hospice Impatient Center in Statesboro, Ga. He was a Bulloch County native and a member of the St. Mary's Missionary Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer working many years for Blitch Farms. He enjoyed gardening, had a quiet sense of humor, and many jokes. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Brenda Parker Alston of Statesboro, Ga.; six daughters Ms. Angelina Ward, Ms. Kesha Ward, and Mrs. Melba Williams(Jack) all of Statesboro, Ga., Ms. Delorestine Ross of Jonesboro, Ga., Mrs. Mae Bacon(Terry) of Oliver, Ga., and Mrs. Grace Howell(Dan) of Colorado Springs, CO; nine sons Mr. Todd Alston, Mr. Dewayne McCollum(Princess), Mr. Robbie Ward(Rheneta), and Mr. Chad Perkins all of Statesboro, Ga., Pastor Levon Alston(Patricia) of Oliver, Ga., Mr. Donnie Alston(Denna) of McDonough, Ga., Mr. Larry Alston of Atlanta, Ga., Mr. Grady Alston(Carla) of Stockbridge, Ga., and Mr. Leon Alston of Philadelphia, PA.; a sister Mrs. Jessie Mae Alston Menu(Danielle) of Everington, N.J.; six brothers Mr. Raymond Alston(Theresa), Pastor Benjamin Alston(Mae), Mr. Jimmy Alston(Mae), Mr. James Alston(Michelle), and Mr. Jessie Lee Alston all of Statesboro, Ga., and Mr. Clinton Alston of New Jersey; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday September 15, 2012 at 11am at St. Mary's Missionary Baptist Church,2227 Mallard Pond Road, Statesboro, Ga., with Pastor Timotheus Mincey, officiating. Interment will be held in Church Cemetery. Family visitations will be Friday September 14, 2012 from 7-8pm at Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel.
