Mr. Gessum Johnson, age 87, passed peacefully away on Sunday Morning at his residence in Bloomingdale, Ga. He was a Bryan County native but resided in Effingham County for many years. He retired from the Georgia Ports Authority of Savannah, Ga., after 20 years. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church of Ellabell, Ga., until his health failed. He is survived by his loving wife Mrs. Ethel Lee Van Johnson of Bloomingdale, Ga.; a loving son Mr. Gessum(Roseland) Johnson Jr. of Lanier, Ga.; a loving step-son Mr. Craig(Deloris) Van of Bloomingdale, Ga.; a loving brother Mr. George Johnson of Ellabell, Ga.; a loving sister-in-law Mrs. Dollie Johnson of Pembroke, Ga.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Johnson can be viewed Tuesday October 8th from 1-8pm at Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Pembroke Chapel. Funeral services for Mr. Gessum Johnson will Wednesday October 9th at 12pm at Macedonia Baptist Church, Ellabell Ga., with Pastor G.R. Conner, Officiating. Interment will be held in Church Cemetery. Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Pembroke Chapel are in charge of arrangements.
