Mr. Gartrell Jones Sr., age 78, passed away Monday April 16th at the Heritage Inn Rehabilitation Center of Statesboro, Ga., under the care of Hospice Advantage after a short illness. He was a member of the Portal Church of God and was employed with Roscoe Larisey Company for over 30 years as an electrician. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Ethel Udell Jones of Portal, Ga.; six daughters Mrs. Bernice(Elmore) Hagins, Mrs. Shirley(William) Allen, and Mrs. Patricia(Randy) Goodman all of Portal, Ga., Mrs. Virginia(Robert) Williams of Metter, Ga., Ms. Deloris Jones of Hooywood, Fl., and Mrs. Janice(Willie) Gresham of Covington, Ga.; four sons Mr. Gartrell Jones Jr., Mr. Jeffery(Shirley) Jones, Mr. Donald Jones, and Mr. Charles Jones all of Portal, Ga.; four sisters Mrs. Ernestine(Walter) Smith of Portal, Ga., Mrs. Sherbbie Jean Culbreth of Twin City, Ga., Ms. Darlene Jones and Ms. Cynthia Jones both of Statesboro, Ga.; two brothers Rev. Roosevelt(Retha) Jones and Rev. Lonnie(Betty Sue) Jones both of Portal, Ga.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday April 21, 2012 at 1pm at the Portal Church of God, 306 Jones Street, Portal Ga. 30450, with the Rev. Lonnie Jones Sr., Presiding and Pastor Roosevelt Jones Sr., Eulogist. Interment will be in the Hodges-Lee Cemetery, Portal, Ga. Family visitations will be Friday April 20, 2012 from 7-8pm at Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel.
