Mrs. Evenlyn Shatteen Lovett departed this life on May 4th at Duke Hospital in Durham, N.C. She was a native of Statesboro, Georgia and born to the late Henry and Addie B. Shatteen. She was married to the late Willie C. Lovett a native of Statesboro, Ga. She was a graduate of William James High School. She was a active member of the Democratic and Political Action Committee of Durham, N.C. She leaves to cherish her memory two children Mr. Rodney(Janice) Lovett of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Mrs. Tracey(Vincent) Wood of Durham, N.C.; four grandchildren; three brothers Mr. Henry(Rozina) Shatteen of Statesboro, Ga., Mr. Lee Earnest(Linda) Shatteen of Camp Springs, MD, Mr. Van Buren(Beverly) Shatteen of Powder Springs, Ga.; five sisters Mrs. Helen(Jack) Johnson of Boston, Ma., Mrs. Johnnie(Willie) Mitchell of Atlanta, Ga., Ms. Sally Shatteen of Statesboro, Ga., Mrs. Pauline(Wylie) Kilpatrick of East Point, Ga., Mrs. Annette(Russell) Wideman of College Park, Ga.; a aunt Mrs. Lee Bertha Wilson of Statesboro, Ga.; a uncle Mr. Budessie(Veronica) Love of Statesboro, Ga.; she is preceded in death by her sister Marthina Shatteen; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday May 9, 2012 at 1pm at St. Joseph A.M.E Church of Durham, N.C. Scarbrough and Hargett Funeral Home of Durham, N.C. are in charge of services.
