Mrs. Doris Smith McNeely, age 78, of Brooklet, Ga., passed away peacefully Sunday evening October 9th under the professional care of Ogeechee Area Hospice at their Inpatient Facility. She was a member of St. Mary's United Methodist Church of Brooklet, Ga. She is a 1950 graduate of William James High School. She served in the United States Women Army Corp and retired from the Bulloch Memorial Hospital after 22 years as a nurse. She is survived by her husband Mr. Ike McNeely of Brooklet, Ga.; a daughter Mrs. Maria Stephenson of Arlington, Virginia; a brother Mr. James(Janie) Smith of Brooklet, Ga.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Friday October 14, 2011 at 11am at Little Bethel Baptist Church, Railroad Street, Brooklet, Ga., with Pastor John McPhatter, eulogist. Interment will be held in Bulloch Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Statesboro, Ga. Mrs. Doris McNeely will lie-in-state from 10am until funeral hour, no viewing after eulogy. Family visitations will be Thursday October 13, 2011 from 7-8pm at Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel.
