Deacon Leroy Mathis, age 87, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Friday June 3rd at Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility after an extended illness. He was a Bulloch County native and was a retired farmer from Hodges Farms of Tattnall County. He was a member of the Springhill Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He is survived by his children step son Mr. Harvey Dickerson of Brooklet, GA., Mr. Jerry Lee Mathis, Ms. Geraldine Mathis, Mrs. Lillie Pearl (Steve) Marshall, Ms. Helen Mathis all of Philadelphia, PA., Mrs. Mary (Robert) Tootle of Hagan, GA. and Mrs. Sallie (Harvey) Moody of Warner Robbins, GA., Mr. Edward Mathis and Mr. Jerome (Min. Veronica) Mathis all of Statesboro, GA., Mr. Leon Mathis of Glennville, GA., Mr. Anthony (Patricia) Mathis of Claxton, GA., SFC. Bobby (Kanya) Mathis of Fayetteville, NC and Minister Roy (Janice) Mathis of Athens, GA.; Sisters Mrs. Mae Omie Lanier and Mrs. Gussie Bell Williams both of Philadelphia, PA. Family visitation will be held on Friday, June 10th from 7:00-8:00pm at the Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel. Homegoing Celebration for Deacon Leroy Mathis will be held on Saturday June 11th at 11:00am at the Springhill Missionary Baptist Church on 1381 Old Register Way in Statesboro, GA, with the Pastor Rev. Gregory Thomas Eulogist. Interment will be held in the church cemetery. Professional services are entrusted to the care of Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel.
