Mr. Charlie Thompson Jr., age 72, passed peacefully on Monday September 16th at Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, New Jersey, after an extended illness. He was a Screven County native and was educated in the Screven County School System. He graduated from the Central High School class of 1959, where he played and loved the game of baseball. He resided in New York before moving to Teaneck, New Jersey. He retired from the General Motors Cooperation of Terrytown, New York where he was employed for 32 years. He was a member of the William Chapel A.M.E Church, where he served faithfully as a Trustee. He is survived by his loving wife Mrs. Irene Thompson of Teaneck, N.J.; his loving daughters Ms. Sharon Thompson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. Kimberlyn Thomp-son Carr(John) of Teaneck, N.J.; his loving son Mr. Glenn Thompson of Teaneck, N.J.; his loving brothers Mr. James Thompson(Veronica) of Bronx, N.Y., and Mr. William Russell Thompson of Sylvania, Ga.; six grandchildren and a great grand-child; and a host of other relatives and friends. Family visitations will be Friday September 27th from 6-8pm at William Chapel A.M.E Church, Hwy 17, Sylvania, Ga. Funeral services for Mr. Charlie Thompson Jr., will be Saturday September 28th at 11am at William Chapel A.M.E Church, Hwy 17, Sylvania, Ga., with the Rev. Eric Cooper, Eulogist, the Elder Ed Wallace Thomas, Presiding and the Rev. Thomas Pinkney, Pastor. Interment will be held in Church Cemetery. Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
