Mrs. Carolyn Mincey Alston was born on October 25, 1946 in Bulloch County to the late Lester Mincey, Sr., and Queen Ester Mincey. She died unexpectedly on Monday, April 24, 2017 in Winston-Salem N.C. She was united in holy matrimony to Billy Ray Valentine on September 26, 1986. Mrs. Carolyn Mincey Alston was a graduate of the William James High School class of 1966. She attended North Winston Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, NC. She retired from Novant Health/Forsyth Medical Center as a physical therapist for 36 years. Mrs. Carolyn Mincey Alston was preceded in death by her parents Lester Mincey, Sr., and Queen Ester Mincey, her infant son Raymond Alston, Jr. and her grandson Andretti Alston. She is survived by her husband Billy Ray Valentine; loving children Ms. Latrachi Alston and Mr. Christopher T. Hendrix both of Winston Salem, N.C., and Ms. Carol S. Alston of Charlotte, N.C.; her loving sisters Mrs. Alice Faye Taylor of Lithonia, Ga.; Mrs. Emma Jean McCrary, Mrs. Josephine (Earl) Anderson, and Ms. Annette Mincey all of Statesboro, Ga.; Mrs. Jacqueline (Walter) Hill of Boston, Mass., Mrs. Doris Henry of Los Angles, CA., and Ms. Sally Lynn Mincey of Dorchester, Mass.; her loving brothers Mr. Lester (Augusta) Mincey Jr. of Lithonia, Ga., and Mr. Steven Mincey of Macon, Ga.; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and a host of other relatives and friends. Also, survived by the father of her children, Raymond Alston, Sr. Viewing will be held Wednesday May 3, 2017 from 4-8pm at the Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel. Home Going Celebration for Mrs. Carolyn Alston will be held Thursday May 4, 2017 at 2pm at the New Hope Baptist Church, Register, Ga., with the Rev. Delmus White, Presiding and the Rev. Gregory Thomas, Eulogist/Pastor. Interment will be held in Church Cemetery. Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel are in charge of arrangements.
