Mr. Burdett Ward, age 79, passed away Wednesday morning November 25th at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility after an extended illness. He was a Bulloch County native having resided in Cincinnati, Ohio for over 50 years before returning to Bulloch County. He retired from Xavier University of Cincinnati, Ohio in 2006. He was a 1957 graduate of the William James High School. He joined the Johnson Grove Baptist Church at a young age. He sung in the church choir until his health failed. He is survived by his loving sisters Mrs. Claudine Williams of Savannah, Ga., Mrs. Laurethia(Lawrence) Taylor of Achron, Ohio, Mrs. Geneva(Elder Robert) Canty of Statesboro, Ga., Ms. Lillie D. Ward of Fort Valley, Ga., Mrs. Evelyn Johnson of Decatur, Ga.; his loving brothers Mr. Dunbar D.W(Mary Lois) Ward and, Mr. Hinton(Argentina) Ward both of Statesboro, Ga.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing for Mr. Burdett Ward will be held Friday November 27, 2015 from 2pm-8pm at Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel. Home Going Celebration for Mr. Burdett Ward will be held Saturday November 28, 2015 at 11am at the Johnson Grove Baptist Church, 149 Oak Grove Church Road, Portal, Ga. 30450, with the Rev. John C. Newkirk, Presiding/Pastor and the Rev. Larry Cone, Eulogist. Interment will be held in the Church Cemetery. Mr. Burdett Ward will lie-in-state from 10am until funeral hour. There will be no viewing after eulogy. Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel are in charge of arrangements.
