Elder Bennie Smith, age 83, passed peacefully away on Tuesday April 11th at his residence after an extended illness under the professional care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. He was a Bulloch County native. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He served as an elder for the Pentecostal Church of God in Statesboro, Ga. He retired as a nurse in 1999 with Bulloch Memorial Hospital, now known as East Georgia Regional Hospital. He volunteered with the Senior Companion Program at GSU and was a private sitter for Dr. Aseron.

He is survived by his loving wife Mrs. Ruth Smith of Statesboro, Ga.; his loving daughters Mrs. Phyllis (Ron) Fluellen, Ms. Regina Smith, and Mrs. Tori Standifer all of Atlanta, Ga., and Ms. Bernita Smith of Metter, Ga.; a loving brother Mr. Timothy Drummer of Kansas City, Missouri.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Family and friends visitations Friday April 14, 2017 from 6-8pm in the chapel of Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel.

Home Going Celebration for Elder Bennie Smith will be held Saturday April 15, 2017 at 11am in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hwy. 80 East, Statesboro, Ga., with Elder Vance Harrison Sr., officiating.

Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home, Statesboro Chapel are in charge of arrangements.
